Spain is Victorious Over Russia and Will Play Germany in the 2008 Euro Final

In what was a pretty boring semi-final, the Spanish national team turned out to be just too much for their Russian opponents.

The Russias looked like they were having flashbacks of their 4-1 group stage loss to Spain as the Spanish squad dominated Russia for the entire match to win big by a score of 3-0.

It seemed like a forgone conclusion coming into this match between Spain and Russia that the Spanish were destined to advance to the 2008 Euro championship final. In the second half the Spanish received a huge blow as this year's Euro leading goal scorer (4 goals) David Villa was injured and couldn't continue, but they didn't need him after the second goal was scored by Xavi as Spain just continued to pound Russia into submission.

Even though this match wasn't as entertaining as Germany vs. Turkey, it does step up the best possible match up between to very talented football national teams. It should be a high goal scoring event in the 2008 Euro Final with Germany taking on Spain.

Germany Beats Turkey to Advance to the 2008 Euro Final

What a match! You really couldn't ask for more from a football match in a major tournament a lot of goals and two teams fighting all the way to the last whistle, both the Germans and the Turkish came to the pitch on Wednesday and played their hearts out!

If there were any question on whether Turkey had what it takes to be playing this far into the 2008 Euro tournament it was answered against Germany in their semi-final match.

The Turkish came into this match as a huge underdog with almost no one, but their loyal supporters counting them out against the Germans, but that didn't stop Turkey from drawing first blood with an early goal by Ugar Boral in the 22nd minute.

Unfortunately for the Turks, the Germany struck back 5 minutes later with a magnificent goal by German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

It would be hard to argue that the Turkish didn't win the first half and keep the German squad on their heels the entire match by having 22 shots on goals with 15 on target to Germany's 9 shots, 5 of which were on target, but Germany didn't give in to Turkey's offensive onslaught by matching all both of their goals and then Philip Lahm sealed the deal with a beautifly struck ball in the 90th minute to advance the Germans into the 2008 Euro Final against either Spain or Russia.

Onto the Semi Finals: Only 4 Teams Left in the Euro 2008 Tournament

After both the group stages and the quarter finals we are finally down to just 4 teams in this UEFA 2008 Euro championship: Russia, Spain, Germany and Turkey

At the start of this tournament there were a few teams that looked absolutely destined to reach the late stages of the 2008 Euro championship.

The Netherlands looked near unstoppable lead by forward superstar Ruud van Nistelrooy who left his mark on every single match of the tournament including in their loss to Russia in the quarterfinal. Before the Dutch took on the Russians in the quarterfinal they had everything working for them, especially their explosive offensive with players like Wesley Sneijder, Klaas- Jan Huntelaar and Robin Van Persie playing fantastic football. Unfortunately for the Dutch, their offensive wasn't able to produce the same amount of goals against the Russia who beat them 3-1 to advance to the semi-finals.

Portugal came into this Euro tournament with a very talented team with one bright shining star in Cristiano Ronaldo who is being referred to these days as simply the best footballer in the world, but Ronaldo didn't have enough to get his countries squad pass a more driven German team that beat the Portuguese convincingly 3-1 to move to the next round.

Who Will Get Knocked Out of the 2008 Euro Next? Watch it Live!

With both the Dutch and Portuguese out and the French and Italians starting to show their age the field has been set in my opinion for the Germans or Spanish to win this tournament. The Spanish have been pretty impressive throughout the tournament scoring 8 goals thus far and Germany have seemed to quietly get to the semifinals, but showed they can play with anyone after hammering Portugal with 3 goals.

Russia and Turkey have both snuck up on everyone in the 2008 Euro championship, no one could have predicted either one of these teams getting this far, but both had huge matches against top international squads in order to make it to the semis. I think they won't beat Germany or Spain, but the way this tournament is going you never know!
